This design charette built on the previous found-object chair design exercise. The Han River in Seoul is ringed and striated with generic elevated concrete highways. None have the beauty and singularity of the Golden Gate or the Brooklyn Bridges, nor does the overall composition result in the human-scaled beauty of the Seine in Paris.

The students focused their new awareness of intervention design on the 10-lane Mapo Bridge as the substrate for an elevated park which allows for much-needed pedestrian access and green space. The design provides a foothold for urban ecology and a focus on the neglected river. It ties the communities together on both shores in an unprecedented way, transforming the bridge into a tangible gateway and enhancing the urban experience
