Restoration of a Circa 1864 Brownstone

The clients eagerly await the restoration to be completed on their land-marked French Second Empire style home. Years of neglect and punishing weather have taken their toll on this house, stripping it of much of the original details. Through research and careful site surveys, we have outlined the means to bring the house back to its glory, as well as to enhance the owners’ sense of comfort and well-being.

The existing porch will be renovated, removing the failed waterproofing and deteriorated wood structure and details. The rebuilt porch will have an Ipe walking surface and a comprehensive means to manage water. The long-ago deleted cornice and slate mansard will be rebuilt, bringing back much of the charm and integrity of the original design.
